today's stories
Jun. 13th, 2008 06:45 amI'm sure you've seen two of the most emailed stories in the NYT: Yes, Again Dear and When Mom and Dad Share it All. All i can think this week is that husbands sent their wives the story about how they should be getting some every night and wives sent husbands the story about how men basically do nothing around the house, even though in most couples, both work full time. so mom holds down the 40 hour and then does 30+ hours of housework (which doesnt include taking care of the kids), and dad does a measly like 10-15. who wants to polk after all that? even overlooking the inevitable resentment factor, the time sink alone is enough to kill a libido.
Of course, these are totally related. I had my first 3.5 hours of freedom yesterday, and for the first time in a year and a half, i didnt feel like i weighed a thousand pounds, either for real from pregnancy or in my head from all the stuff weighing on me afterward (or maybe real anyhow, from carrying the kid around all the time).
i wonder if the times planned it that way.
(oh, and also? am i a lazy slob? that's a combined 40+ hours of housework per week! i know we dont do that much.)
